Van Gogh’s Bedroom at Arles, 1889, by Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890)

Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890) invested his paintings with fearless color and singular eloquence. His portraits, landscapes, and still lifes transform the familiar into the exceptional, each one a masterful expression of the painter’s passion. Between 1880 and 1890—his entire career in art—Van Gogh created more than two thousand drawings and paintings, extraordinary depictions of such ordinary subjects as chairs, books, boats, boots, fields, flowers, and farmers. Although commercial success eluded him during his brief lifetime, his timeless paintings serve as testaments to Van Gogh’s brilliance.

Thoughtfully conceived and engagingly intricate, our 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles combine superb color reproduction, stunning and unusual images, and sturdy construction to delight generations of novice and veteran puzzleworkers.

About: Vincent van Gogh

Vincent van Gogh’s ten-year painting career yielded more than 2,000 paintings and drawings but little recognition from the art world. Lamenting this indifference, he wrote to his brother Theo, “One may have a blazing hearth in one’s soul, and yet no one ever comes to sit by it.” Van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890) never did achieve the recognition he craved during his short, troubled lifetime. He sold few paintings but was known to have traded his artwork with other artists or for art supplies, food, and lodging. During periods of intense productivity, he painted at a feverish rate, sometimes a painting a day. His passionate and vividly colorful works eventually won over audiences and have helped make him one of the world’s most beloved artists.
