Catherine M. Elliott

Catherine M. Elliott is a contemporary artist and teacher, whose work is evocative of the American Impressionistic Style of painting. Her work explores atmospheric and lighting conditions portraying the subject’s quality. To capture a moment of time and place by use of color and form to invoke the viewer to intimately see the sublime is evident in her paintings. Ms. Elliott has created numerous commissioned pieces, both commercial and private. She is an elected member of the Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, Connecticut, a legacy left by nineteenth century artists, and is today a showcase of notable artists.

An elected member of both the Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme since 1989 in Connecticut and the Connecticut Plein Aire Painter’s Society, Catherine revels in the challenge to create works of art that hold on to an hour or a season and magnify its wonder and peace. Each of her paintings seeks to convey the fleeting effects of sunlight and atmosphere.
